How to Add animation in MS PowerPoint

1. Open your PowerPoint and select a slide

  • Choose the slide where you want to add animation.
  • Select the object (text box, image, shape, chart, etc.) you want to animate.

2. Go to the Animations tab

  • On the top ribbon, click “Animations”.
  • You’ll see a list of basic animations like Appear, Fade, Fly In, Zoom, etc.

3. Choose an animation

  • Click an animation from the Animation gallery.
  • A small number appears next to the object showing the order of the animation.

4. Customize the animation

  • Click Animation Pane (on the right) to see all animations on the slide.
  • Options for customizing include:
    • Effect Options – Change direction or style of the animation.
    • Start – Choose On Click, With Previous, or After Previous.
    • Duration – Set how long the animation lasts.
    • Delay – Set a delay before it starts.

5. Add multiple animations (optional)

  • Select the object, then click Add Animation (don’t just click a new animation, or it will replace the previous one).
  • This allows entrance, emphasis, exit, or motion path effects together.

6. Preview your animations

  • Click Preview (top-left in the Animations tab) to see how the animation looks.
  • Adjust timing or effects as needed.

7. Bonus Tips

  • Motion Paths – Make objects move along a custom path.
  • Animation Painter – Copy animation from one object to another.
